Panlilioitis
Among Ed is running for president, but he is NOT?
Panlilio “Oh, yes, DEFINITELY” will prosecute PGMA for “crimes against the public”, but, ah, not really?
Gov. Panlilio is NOT quitting his priesthood, will “insist” on it because that’s how much he “love” it. But now, he WILL?
A peek at recent headlines will make any reader’s eyebrows meet and head hurt, while those who have come to know him and his ways would now simply laugh it off. Laughter is better in this case, I think.
If I were Gov. Panlilio’s public relations officer, I’d quit. Oh, yeah, that’s right, they all did. It seems now that the good governor is on his own with his PR work. Well, in that case, if I were Gov. Panlilio, I’d quit.
The kindhearted may argue, “That’s not really Among Ed’s fault. It’s the media people who are twisting his words, taking things out of context. They are always putting him in a bad light.”
But wait, those reports are mostly coming from Among Ed’s favorite newspaper, to which office he visited twice these last few weeks just so, I’m guessing here, there will be plenty of time to talk and put his words in its most accurate and pleasing context, yes?
In 2007 we all (admit it or not) at varying levels were mesmerized by the electoral campaign and victory of Among Ed – an unknown, an underdog, sadly afflicted by an awkward skin disease (vitiligo) and most of all, he was a rebel priest, one with a cause we all needed, wanted. He was a convincing speaker who delivered his platform of governance speech with eloquence and grace with listeners almost hanging at his every word.
He seemed to echo the aspirations of the Kapampangans and the Filipinos in general. In their thousands, volunteers and supporters rallied behind him, protected and defended him. Rich Pampanguenos from all over, who never knew him, generously contributed to his campaign fund.
The overall drama of his victory was just truly outstanding and it felt really good to be a part of it all and no, none of us wanted all that to end. So we pursue this dreamlike state – many offered to help, to volunteer, to spend their time, talent, expertise and resources to make sure Fr. Panlilio will succeed as Governor and so will the Crusade of the Kapampangans.
And along came the sad truth. For some, the painful realization was quick, to others, agonizingly slow. But it did. It does. Especially with words like these:
“These guys are very strong willed persons, they want things done at the Capitol, they want it done. E hindi naman kasi sila ang governor e, ako ang governor e.” (Panlilio at the Press Conference hosted by the Catholic Media Network, March 31, 2009)
The incomplete campaign fund and expenses report to the COMELEC, the termination and messy handling of the issues of the BALAS Boys, his my-way-or-no-way stance with the mayors and provincial councilors, his irrational and close to scandalous attachment to Atty. Vivian Dabu, his for-all-I-care and I-wish-I-never-accepted-your-help attitude with his former supporters, and the list goes on.
The way he dealt with the internal and external problems faced by his administration was a true test of his judgment, skills and character. In all three aspects, he failed. I heard it hurts like a thousand arrows piercing through the hearts especially of those who loved him the most.
But enough with the drama.
I heard that the cure for either mild or chronic case of panlilioitis, (inflammation of the heart and head symptomatic of sudden state of confusion, disbelief, feelings of betrayal and embarrassment, combined with headache and heartache caused by Panlilio’s conflicting, unthinking, stupefying and insensitive remarks and actions) is the BRP or BITTER REALITY PILL.
The BRP (no BFAD endorsement, at this stage, but many would attest to it) is a highly potent no-nonsense pill that is both preventive and curative of most known cases of panlilioitis. The BRP does just that – brings us all back to reality and make us see and understand Panlilio as he is and not as we wish for him to be.
Before reading the papers, or watch / listen to the news, take one pill. This will help make sure that you are ready for what you are about to read, see and hear from and about Gov. Panlilio and with the 2010 drawing ever nearer, there’ll be more of him in the news, I am sure. I tell you though, it works like magic and no amount of Panlilio-antic will ever hurt or bother you again.
Among Ed, please join us in prayers and fasting this Holy Week so that the Lord may bless us with love and humility. Let reconciliation begin for the sake of our Country and beloved Pampanga.
